Recently, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced the list of newly elevated Fellows for 2025. Principal Researcher Xinran Wang of the Laboratory was elected for his “contributions to the fabrication and device application of low-dimensional semiconductors”.

IEEE is currently the world’s largest professional association for electronic technology and information science, with over 460,000 members across more than 190 countries. The IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership, awarded annually by peer review to members who have made outstanding contributions. Each year, the number of newly elected Fellows does not exceed one-tenth of one percent of the total IEEE membership. Recipients must have made significant advances in engineering, science, and technology, bringing substantial value to society.

Xinran Wang currently serves as Director and Principal Researcher of the Frontier Materials Division at Suzhou Laboratory. He is a nationally recognized talent and the leader of a National Natural Science Foundation Innovation Research Group. His accolades include the China Youth May Fourth Medal, the China Youth Science and Technology Award, the Second Prize of the National Natural Science Award, the Huang Kun Prize of the Chinese Physical Society, the Science Exploration Award, and the IEEE Nanotechnology Council Distinguished Service Award, among others. His primary research focuses on next-generation information materials, devices, and integrated circuits. He has published over 200 academic papers, including 32 in Science, Nature, and their sub-journals, with total citations exceeding 39,000. Three of his works have been incorporated into the International Technology Roadmap for Semiconductors, and he has been listed ten times among Highly Cited Researchers.

During his tenure at the Laboratory, Xinran Wang has led his team in advancing organized research efforts, making significant contributions to the field of two-dimensional semiconductors. We sincerely invite young talents in the materials field from around the world to join us, to march forward with determination, to overcome challenges together, and to scale new heights hand in hand!
