Suzhou Laboratory Launches "SUL Energy Station 2024 Moat Hike"

On November 2, the Laboratory hosted the "Stride Together, Strengthen Our Bodies, Forge the National Spirit" 2024 Moat Hike event. Gong Qinhua, Deputy Party Secretary and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, together with Wu Qiuyun, Assistant to the Director, and more than fifty employees and their family members, took part in the activity.

The route followed the fitness trail encircling the ancient city moat, passing by iconic landmarks such as Xiangmen, Loumen, Qimen, Pingmen, and Changmen Gates. To inspire a spirit of friendly competition and excellence, a team-based orienteering challenge was introduced during the hike. Participants completed a series of checkpoints infused with technological innovation — including "Su’s Poetic Quest" and "‌Witty Enlightenment" — all while savoring the thousand-year-old city's unique scenery. Through lively interaction, colleagues forged closer bonds and strengthened their spirit of teamwork.

To deepen employees’ appreciation of Suzhou’s rich history and profound cultural heritage, the event incorporated a "study tour" segment. Experts and scholars were invited to share the fascinating stories behind the ancient gates. As they walked, participants not only witnessed the city’s dynamic development and transformation, but also reaffirmed their commitment to serving the nation through scientific innovation.

This event was part of the "SUL Energy Station" cultural brand series, designed to build bridges for researchers from across the country to better understand Suzhou and integrate into the Laboratory community. It enriched employees’ recreational life, fostered deeper connections among colleagues, and strengthened both cohesion and morale — gathering momentum to advance high-level scientific self-reliance and to contribute to building China into a global scientific powerhouse.
